History

In 1934 the Provincial of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, an order of religions sisters, established Sacred Heart Private School. They had a bold vision that ultimately led to the purchase of an old, gray farmhouse on Zerega Avenue in the Bronx. The school began as a nursery. On September 9, 1935 Sacred Heart Private School opened its doors to students in the first and second grades with an enrollment of 15 students. By 1939 Sacred Heart was given permission to extend to the 8th grade. Sacred Heart Private has always been a small school with a solid curriculum.
