Honoring the Mother of God
Saturday, December 8th, is the
Feast of the Immaculate Conception.  It is a Holy Day of Obligation for all Catholics and we are expected to attend Mass.  We honor Mary, the Mother of Jesus, because she was sinless from the first moment of her life, her conception.

The Second Week of Advent
During this week
Bethlehem Lights the Way to Jesus.
Bethlehem was the small town that became the birthplace of a King.  In its dark streets would shine the everlasting Light of Christ.  In one of its stables would glow the One who would deliver from sin every person in every village, city, and town.  We light two candles to remember this place.  It is Bethlehem where Jesus came with grace.

Marking Progress
Your youngster may be receiving
Progress Reports
next week.   Progress Reports this quarter are going only to students who are in academic or behavioral difficulty.  Therefore, your child may not receive a progress report in your envelope – don’t worry if this happens, just be grateful!   Teachers expect you to sign the yellow copy and return it the next day – so, if your child’s Progress Report happens to “disappear,” you will be contacted by the teacher.  Parents are asked to review Progress Reports with their child(ren).

December Tuition Raffle is due on December 19th.
We want you to win but you first have to participate!
Please be on time with your payment.  Thanks a bunch!

Proper Prior Planning
Friday,
December 21st, is an Early Dismissal Day @ 11:15 a.m. and there will be NO AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM, so please be sure that you make arrangements to have your youngster picked up at 11:15 a.m. promptly.  There will be no one around to supervise your child after that time.  Thank you.

Please Take Note:

  • Please take special notice of the enclosed flyer discussing the movie “The Golden Compass” which is scheduled to be released tomorrow.   The movie is deceptive and the author has an evil motive for promoting this film.

  • Please post the enclosed notice regarding Snow Closing/Emergency Closing info.  Keep this in a handy place during this season.

  • Please read the flyer describing S.O.W.L.’s project to keep Christ in Christmas and please support this effort.

The Sounds of Christmas

  • Our 2007 Christmas Concert will be held on Thursday, December 20th @ 7:00 p.m. in St. Raymond School Auditorium.

  • I ask you to keep in mind some points of “concert courtesy” – the students and teachers have worked long and hard to present this concert so we ask you to give your full attention and not distract the students by talking, whistling, etc.  If you have younger children with you, please keep them with you and do not permit them to run up and down the aisles.   We would all greatly appreciate your cooperation.  Thank you.

  • The Dress Code for the Christmas Concert was in last week’s packet.  I will include it again next week.

Worth Repeating
Earlier this year I tried to explain why we need to stick to deadlines when payments are due.  I will try to explain again.  Many of these are activities are directed by our teachers.  Our teachers need to do the counting of money, recording of payments, ordering of items & banking of money during their Prep Periods which are often at the beginning of the day.  We don’t have extra clerical staff to do this.  Once this task is done, they do not have the opportunity to go back and re-do this work if additional payments come in; it’s not that we are not flexible – it’s just that we need to work within the time parameters we have.

Classroom Highlights

Kindergarten:  Last week, the letter of the week provided many things for the Kindergarten class to do. They made beautiful “Dream catchers” with Mrs. Ardon. They learned what things begins with Dd and what do not. Our “Constellations” were true works of art.  See if you guess what your youngster made? They can show you how to be a caring and Good Samaritan. All of them are very kind and gentle with their classmates. They have come a long way from September and look for great things coming your way……

WE DID IT!!!! The second grade has read 100 books and completed the chart. Now other schools that are in need will receive new books. Each child received a certificate to reward them for their hard work. Good Job Second Grade!!!!
