   From the Desk of Sr. Judith..

Wishing you God’s love in the New Year!
Hoping your new year is bright with promise,
glad with hope,
and blessed with peace & joy.

A Word of Thanks & Congratulations!
Although our Christmas Concert was held 3 weeks ago, I do want to acknowledge all of those people who “produced” such a wonderful performance:

  • Mrs. Ina Rivera and her assistants Mrs. Jeanette DeLeon & Sr. Estelle for directing our play, “Dreams of Christmas.”

  • Mr. David Rivera for lighting and sound direction (he donated both his time and equipment.)

  • Ms. Moskovitz for preparing the students musically for the performance;

  • Mrs. Lee for directing the “strategic planning” for organization so that everything flowed smoothly;
    All of the teachers who supervised and encouraged the students and who also assisted the students in learning the songs
    and with the staging logistics.

  • Of course, the students who really gave their all in honoring the Lord Jesus at the celebration of His birth;

  • St. Raymond’s school for allowing us to use their beautiful auditorium.

Many hands are needed for such an event.  Thank you.

Please Note:

  • Tomorrow students will be dismissed at 11:15 AM because of the monthly Faculty Meeting.  Students will be enrolled in
    Extended Day if they are not picked up at 11:15 AM.

  • There are deadlines for 2 of the forms included in this packet: Catholic Schools Week Breakfast Reservation due on
    January 18th, (no money involved for this one!) and the
    January Tuition Raffle due on January 23rd.  Please be sure to meet those deadlines because we need to adhere to our deadlines.  Thank you.

  • Congratulations to the Hernandez Family in PreK for winning the December Tuition Raffle!  If you are one of the 28 families who
    have not paid the December Tuition Raffle, I ask that you send the amount in right away or, if you prefer, with your January payment.  Thank you.

The Virtue of the Month
During January we will be focusing on the virtue of Respect.  Students will discuss, role-play, write about showing respect for other people, for respecting differences, and for respecting privacy.  We will also learn what it means to show respect for our personal possessions, for property, and for the environment.  Not only will students learn about showing respect at home, at school, and out in social situations,
they’ll also learn about ways people of different cultures show respect.

Finances
As report cards and re-registration time nears, please remember that your tuition payments, Extended Day payments, and Tuition Raffle payments must be up-to-date before report cards will be issued and/or re-registration packets be offered to you.  In addition,
those students whose tuition is more than two months delinquent will not be permitted to attend class as of February4, 2008
(See Family Handbook page 25) Please do not do this to your youngster.

Planning Ahead
Students in Grades 5 – 8 will be taking Midterm Exams during the week of January 14th.  The schedule is included in this packet
and students will also be given Study Guides to use this weekend.    Please assist them to prepare each evening at home.

It is important that students are present for all of these exams since they become part of their permanent record.  Students should come prepared with a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast.  By all means, keep students home if they are truly ill but please
do not “make excuses.”

CSW
  • Catholic Schools Week will soon be upon us! A schedule of events for the week will be included in next week’s packet.
    However ………..

  • Remember the Breakfast Appointment with Your Children:  The reservation form is included in this packet & it is important that it be returned by the due date, January 18th.    Please mark your calendar and reserve the morning indicated for each grade for a special Catholic Schools Week Breakfast with your child (ren).    This morning event includes prayer, breakfast and a school/classroom visit.

  • Please take time to complete the Family Sign which is also included in this packet and send it back by January 23rd so
    that your family can be included on the Wall of Light.

    God speaks to us at Christmas in the beauty of the world around
us and in the loving kindness of others.

I offer special thanks to all those families who sent “goodies” to school
for faculty and staff during the weeks before Christmas.

We are grateful for your kindness!
The candy, cookies, cakes, fruit, etc. gave us energy

during the pre-Christmas Program and pre-vacation busyness.
Thank you so very much for thinking of us.
