Respect Life Day
Tomorrow, January
18th, we will observe Respect Life Day at Sacred Heart Private School.  As you may know, January 22nd marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the United States.  Christians from all over the U.S. will participate in the March for Life in Washington, D.C. this weekend and we prayerfully united ourselves to them.  Our students and staff will spend time praying in class and in the chapel for all expectant parents, for pre-born children, for those who mourn the death of their children, and for the healing of those traumatized by abortion.  We also prayed for a deeper reverence for human life from the moment of conception until natural death.  The students will receive a special item to remind them that we Celebrate Life That Is Precious!

A Quick Reminder:
Tuition for January was due on January 10, 2008
.   If you have not sent this payment in to SMART, please do not mail it but bring it directly to the school office so we can keep records current.  Thank you

Catholic Schools Week

  • A flyer describing many of our Catholic Schools Week events is in this packet

  • Reservations for the morning Parent/Student Breakfasts for next week are due on tomorrow – did you hand yours in?   We’ve included it in this packet again!

  • Did you send in your Family Sign for CSW?  We would love to have every family represented!  This is due by next Wednesday!

  • Please take note of the flyer inviting all of our Family Volunteers to our Faculty/Staff/Volunteer Appreciation Liturgy on Friday, February 1st.  A response is needed so that we can roll out the royal carpet for you.  There are so many of you who give the gift of your time and talent to our school, so don’t be shy about sending in your name!  We don’t want to leave anyone out and it’s almost impossible for us to remember everyone:  Thursday Packets “team,” HSO Officers & Committee Members, Class Parents, etc.  You are so very much appreciated!!!  Thank you.

  • Today you will find in the packet an order form for our Mission Carnival – please don’t let your child be left out!!

  • “Eye Care” and I’m sure you do, too!  Look in this packet for a flyer about donating used eye glasses.

Some Things to Remember

  1. Fundraising ………

  • Don’t worry – you didn’t miss the Annual Candy Sale which we usually have in January.  This year we will be holding it later in the year.

  • The January Tuition Raffle is due next Wednesday, January 23rd   Are you one of the families who have not yet paid December’s Tuition Raffle?  The Monthly Tuition Raffle is an easy and important way for us to generate money for our technology and professional development funds.  We need everyone’s cooperation!!  You can’t win if you don’t participate!  Please remember that if you are two months delinquent with the Tuition Raffle, we will add your balance to your SMART payments.

  1. Financial Obligations

  • Report Cards will be sent home during Catholic Schools Week.  However, your tuition payments, Extended Day payments, and Tuition Raffle payments must be up-to-date in order for you to receive a report card.   In addition, those students whose tuition is more than two months delinquent will not be permitted to attend class as of February4, 2008 (See Family Handbook page 25) Please do not do this to your youngster.

HSO Dinner Dance Checklist

  • Our HSO committees have included a few notices in this packet – please give these your attention.  Thank you so much.

  • Have you sent in the $10.00 donation toward your Class Basket?  I know the Homeroom Parents have sent notices home.  Even if you are not able to attend the Dinner Dance, we need your contribution toward the basket!  If you haven’t done so yet, please send it in tomorrow in an envelope labeled with your child’s name, grade and “Class Basket Donation.”  Thanks a bushel!!

  • You received Chance Books & were asked to sell at least two.  It’s time to send in the tickets stubs & payment.  If you absolutely cannot sell these Chance Books, please return them so we can sell them at the dance.  Winner need not be present to win.

  • The Dance Committee is depending on YOU to help sell Journal Ads.  You can help by asking merchants, etc. that you frequent to either advertise or donate or do both!   This would be a tremendous help – even if YOU cannot attend the dance.

  • However, most especially, we would love to have your presence at the dance to make the evening complete.
