Catholic Schools Week
-
We are grateful
for the excellent turnout for our Morning
Prayer/Breakfasts this week. In planning our CSW
activities we tried to determine the best “time” to have
parents visit the school and since the breakfasts are
always such a “big hit”, we decided to keep this
“tradition” going at SHPS.
-
Tomorrow is
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Day here at SHPS. It would
be a nice gesture for you and your youngster to
send a note of gratitude to your child’s teachers
and our staff members. I know I am grateful to them
for all they do to guide, support, encourage and
appreciate each child. They do this each and every day
and I am most appreciative for all of their dedication
and organization in planning our Catholic School Week
Activities.
In This Packet ………
-
Parents whose
financial obligations are up-to-date will find a legal
size white envelope containing 2 copies of the 2nd
quarter report card. Parents are asked to sign
and return the white copy of the report
card to your child’s homeroom teacher
tomorrow.
The original copy you are to use in discussing with your
youngster progress or lack of progress before placing in
your child’s home file.
-
Midterm Exams
are never sent home. Teachers may review exams with
students so that they may note areas of strength and
weakness. However, attached to the report card will be
a separate sheet letting you know how your youngster did
on the midterm exams. Please look for this paper, sign
it and return it to the homeroom teacher. Please know
that each teacher gave the students a detailed review
sheet for the exam and spent considerable class time
reviewing for exams using the review sheet and other
materials.
-
If you do not
receive a report card today, you will find a letter
explaining what you need to do in order to receive the
report card.
Next Week
-
The season of
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 6th.
Our school community will be attending mass at 2:00 p.m.
on that day and you are most welcome to join us as
always.
-
Next Friday,
February 8th will be a Faculty Meeting Day
as I stated in last week’s packet. Dismissal will be at
11:15 a.m. We will be meeting to discuss transition
planning for the remainder of the year.
A Generous Offer
I received an e-mail from Reverend Arthur Welton, the Pastor
of St. Francis Xavier Parish stating:
Should any family wish to enroll in Saint Francis Xavier
School, I am prepared to waive certain initial fees and to
accept them at our parishioner rate - we refer to it as Plan
A - at least for the first year.
Please take note of
the flyer from St. Francis Xavier in this packet. This
offer may be worth investigating, if you are interested in
this school. The rectory phone number is 718-892-333o.

Calendar Reminders
-
Tomorrow is the
First Friday of February. We will have our Teacher
Appreciation Liturgy at 10:15 a.m. and there will be
dismissal at 11:15.
-
Our Winter
Holiday will soon be upon us and this includes
Presidents’ Day. There will be no school for students
on February 18th and 19th.
May I please make a
request: the Monthly Calendar is sent home well before the
start of the month and it is also posted on our website.
Please read it carefully and take note of the events that
apply to you. It would help in your Proper Prior
Planning. Thank you. |
