Dates to Remember

  • Please take note of the June Calendar in this packet.  All dates for exams, graduations, early dismissals, etc. are included.  Please do not lose this red calendar – another one will not be issued.

  • It’s not too early for students to begin studying for Final exams.  The schedule was sent home two weeks ago and is on the June calendar in this packet.

  • Tomorrow, Friday, May 23rd is a Spring Holiday with no school.

  • This coming Monday is Memorial Day and a legal holiday with no school.

  • Friday, May 30th is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and we will be having 11:15 Dismissal.  All are invited to attend our 9:00 a.m. Liturgy which includes the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart Ceremony.  Seventh grader, Jason Stringfellow has been selected to crown the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and 2nd grader, Jonathan Martinez, will be the crown bearer.

Come One, Come All – Students!
Our Final student “Big Event” for the year is our school Carnival on May 28th – this is in place of our usual Field Day the last week of school.   The form to sign up for the Carnival went home last Friday (you can also find it on our website) indicating everything that’s included in the cost: Lunch, prizes, games, snacks, attractions and payment was due today.  I realize this is an expense but we alerted you to this last February and I hope that you will be able to send in the payment on Tuesday if you didn’t make today’s deadline.   I am sure you do not want your youngster to be left out of this event but unfortunately, in fairness to all others, without payment a child cannot participate and will have to remain inside with assigned work during the Carnival time.

Financial Matters

  • May Tuition Raffle money was due yesterday – are you one of the families who did not send their payment in yet? Please remember that all financial obligations, besides tuition, must be taken care of before final report cards are issued or records sent to new schools.  This is part of your contractual obligation.  I thank you in advance for your support.

  • All tuition balances for 2007 – 2008 should be paid in full by this date.  Unfortunately, students whose families are in breach of contract will not be able to attend school after May 30, 2008.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Calendar Alert!

  • Wednesday, June 111h, is the last day for the Extended Day Program.  Usually there is NO After School Program during the last week of school.  However, this year we are ending one day earlier so that our Extended Day staff will be able to attend our final SHPS Graduation Ceremony on June 12th

  • There is no school for students Friday, June 13th.

  • Dismissal will be at 11:15 a.m. on June 16, 17, 18, and 19 as per Archdiocesan Guidelines.  Please be on time at dismissal so that the teachers and staff may get to their end-of-year responsibilities.

  • The last day of school for students in Grades 1 – 7 is on Thursday, June 19th with dismissal at 11:15 a.m. following a 10:30 a.m. closing Liturgy. There is no school for students on Friday, June 20th.  It is a Grading Day for teachers.

Nice Weather
With the approach of nice weather (I hope), some of our older students are walking home on their own.  If you have given your youngster permission (and have notified their homeroom teacher of this permission)
to walk home independently, I hope you have instructed them to go directly home and call you when they arrive.  No students are to be loitering near or around the school.  We feel responsible for the students and the teachers and I do not want to leave students unattended outside the school gates.  Their safety comes first.

Book Sale
We will be donating some of our older books to Fr. Steve (the priest who collected our Christmas Boxes) for a school in Africa.  To help defray the cost of shipping and to provide our students with summer reading material we will be having a
“Classroom Library Book Sale.”  Students may purchase books for a price ranging from $.25 - $.100 depending on the quality of the book.   Homeroom teachers will begin this next week.   Look for the flyer in this packet.

It’s Not Too Late
If you have not yet sent in your reservation for our
International Food Festival and Mass of Thanksgiving, you still have time.  You can find the reservation form on our website in the Thursday Packet link.  Click on the May 15th or May 8th newsletter and you’ll find a link to the International Food Festival flyer.   I’d love to have you come!!!
