An important calendar change:  Our Christmas Vacation has been extended and will be two weeks long:  December 22 – January 6.  Classes will resume on Monday, January 7, 2008.   This should give those of you who take extended trips time to get back and begin school with everyone else.

Some R & R
Last Friday during the First Friday Liturgy our eighth graders received their class rings – as symbol of their special status as
“almost” graduates of Sacred Heart Private School.  Of course this status means a greater burden of responsibility as being role models and leaders in our school.  As I told the 8th graders this week, R & R for them means Rings & Responsibility.  We offer our eighth graders our congratulations and best wishes as they work hard to successfully complete their elementary school studies.   Grade 8 Ring Day Ceremony (click to see pictures)

The Sounds of Christmas

  • Our 2007 Christmas Concert will be held on Thursday, December 20th @ 7:00 p.m. in St. Raymond School Auditorium, on Purdy Street.   Bring YOUR singing voices because we want audience participation.

  • I ask you to keep in mind some points of “concert courtesy” – the students and teachers have worked long and hard to present this program so we ask you to give your full attention and not distract the students by talking, whistling, etc.  If you have younger children with you, please keep them with you and do not permit them to run up and down the aisles.   We would all greatly appreciate your cooperation.  Thank you.

  •  Thank you for supporting us with your presence at the concert next week.  As usual, Mrs. Santiago will record the performance.  An order form for a copy of the DVD is included in this packet.

  • We’ve once again enclosed the Dress Code for the Christmas Concert in the packet so no one should have any questions.  Thanks for your help. Christmas Dress Code

Marking Progress
Your youngster may be receiving
Progress Reports today.   Progress Reports this quarter are going only to students who are in academic or behavioral difficulty.  Therefore, your child may not receive a progress report in your envelope – don’t worry if this happens, just be grateful!   Teachers expect you to sign the yellow copy and return it tomorrow, December 14th– so, if your child’s Progress Report happens to “disappear,” you will be contacted by the teacher.  Parents are asked to review Progress Reports with their child (ren).

Final Reminder
Have you sent in your “registration” for your youngster’s (Grades PreK – 5)
participation in A Winter Wonderland?    This amount covers the lunch which will be provided on Monday, December 17th

Are You Guilty?
It seems that some parents are double & triple parking their car in front of the school after dropping their youngster off.  In fact it’s reported that some are even just sitting there enjoying their breakfast after their child enters the school property.  This is a safety hazard:  other parents are not able to get through the street to drop their child off – not to mention just simple lack of courtesy and respect for others.  Please think of others who also would like to drop their child off in a safe place.  Thank you.

Please Note:  There will be no Thursday Packet next week.

Important Note:   Next Friday, December 21st begins our Christmas Vacation at 11:15 a.m.
There is NO After School Program on that day, so please be on time
to pick up your children at 11:15 a.m.   There will be no one to watch them after that time.
 Thank you!
